History

Alongside triathlon, canoeing will make its debut at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. Thirty-one countries took part in the 2010 World Championship in Poland. Kayak and Hawaii canoe events were held.

In Paralympic competitions, the vessels are adapted according to the athletes’ functional ability. The course is set in a 200 metre long straight line and outlined by buoys. In addition to individual events (men and women), there are mixed competitions that use vessels that carry two people.
