Ricardo Leyser takes over as Minister of Sport

President Dilma Rousseff issued a note thanking George Hilton for his work and dedication. Leyser also holds the position of National High Performance Secretary

This Wednesday (30.03), Brazil's president announced that Ricardo Leyser will take over as interim Minister of Sport. In the note, President Dilma Rousseff thanked former minister George Hilton for his work and communicated that Leyser, current National Secretary of High Performance Sport will lead the ministry. The confirmation was published this Thursday (31.03) in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU).

George Hilton took over the ministry in January 2015, replacing Aldo Rebelo, who at the time took over as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Ricardo Leyser (45), has worked at the Ministry of Sport since 2003, year when the public body was created. In November 2015, Leyser returned to the National Secretariat of High Performance Sport, which he had led for six years and from the beginning of 2009, after holding the position of Executive Secretary in November 2015.
